Artists - Claudia Lorenz
I am an art teacher and artist working in painting, sculpture and photography, often combining these media into new forms and expressions. Art to me is pleasure, work, insight, meditation and a way to express my way of seeing the world. My studies in art history, environmental issues and art education are an ongoing resource for connecting art-making with social and environmental concerns; chiefly health, education, human creativity and giving form to the things that move us emotionally and spiritually.
Ecology and the health of the natural environment are very important to me, and I am always finding new ways to use art to help connect people with the wonderous and diverse ways of nature.
The series of paintings at Quails Nest Studio .Com are an important part of my Weather Journals series. Each of these paintings is a portrait of a meteorological moment on the B.C. coast, reflecting the particular colours, mood, temperature and and airborne moisture of various times of day.
